When cared for properly, Peacock Alley linens will remain beautiful for years. The proper care of fine linens and bath products requires special attention that you will find can be easily accomplished with exceptional results. These cleaning instructions, when followed closely, will ensure the longevity and desired luxury of your bed linens and bath products.
Matelassé Coverlets
We recommend that our cotton matelassé coverlets and shams be professionally laundered, due to the size and weight of the coverlets, UNLESS they are prewashed. In which case they can be machine-washed warm, tumble dry low. You should still expect approximately a 3%-5% shrinkage in length and width.
For matelassés that are not prewashed, ask the launderer to pre-measure the coverlet, then wash in cold water with a mild, bleach-free detergent. The coverlet should then be blocked while wet to ensure minimal shrinkage. Normal shrinkage for this particular type of fabric is about 8%, and is allowed for when items are cut.
- Our sizes accommodate mattresses up to 15” in depth after laundering.
- Extra-deep and pillow top mattresses will alter this drop. Please select your linens accordingly.
- Look for launderers that specialize in cleaning fine linens. They are expertly equipped to beautifully clean your 100% Egyptian Cotton linens and duvet covers.
Sheets
Peacock Alley's sheets are made from the finest combed Egyptian cotton. These sheets should be washed with a mild, bleach-free detergent in warm water. Tumble dry low, and remove sheets promptly from the dryer. You should expect approximately a 3% - 5% shrinkage for cotton sheets. Peacock Alley's sheets are 100 % Egyptian cotton and may need light ironing.
- We also recommend cleaning all your fine washables with a fine linen wash.
Fashion Bedcoverings
Most of Peacock Alley's Fashion Bed Linens must be DRY CLEANED ONLY. Expertly designed with the finest quality and timeless luxery in mind, your Peacock Alley linens may be enjoyed for years to come. We hope you continue indulging yourself in the style and luxery of Peacock Alley linens.
Bath
Lint
The absorbancy of a towel is found in the tip of the loops. As you wash and dry Peacock Alley towels, the loops open, adding to the absorbancy rate. As the loops open, loose extra fibers may lint in the initial washing process; not unlike plush carpet that has to be vacuumed several times before the excess fibers are removed. Our thick, luxurious towels may need to be washed a few times before the lint in the filter diminishes after the drying process.
Laundering
Fabric softeners are not recommended for Egyptian cotton, since the yarns are already soft and silky. A drying sheer may be used to fluff the towel in the drying process. This will also expedite the initial linting. Due to the wet finishing process, our towels are completely colorfast; thu there is no bleeding of colors. The towels should be washed with a mild bleach-free detergent or specialty linen wash in warm water. Tumble dry low.
